Last year I wrote a song with the wonderful Ted Barnes for a project called 'Explorers Club.'
The Explorers Club is a collaboration between LOAF recordings and Arctic Circle. Together they are releasing a series of special, one-off singles once a month of 30 or so artists from the four corners of the globe. Iceland, Germany, Japan, Scotland, America, Ireland, France and Australia are just some of the places that these maverick composers and performers hail from.
Mine and Ted's track is called 'As the time goes.' The track is released on Itunes, Amazon and all other digital download stores on Monday 20th September.

21 - Ted Barnes & Emily Barker - As The Time Goes by Arctic Circle Radio
As the time goes by Emily Barker
Quietly down the steps I'd go through the garden gate
as meadow calls hung in the mist
on the morning's amber wake
Fingers trailed the old hedgerow stealing drops of dew
feet upon the foxtail grass and shadows on the move
Chorus:
I walked 'til I came to the oak tree
walked 'til I came to the oak tree
catkin-covered at the start of the spring
where furrows meet years and fold them in
where hands and numbers fall from the clocks
and cleave through the air like leaves in the autumn
Lightly up the tree I'd go, toes fell into place
and out along the ancient branch to see how the lands lay
wild winds would whip through the dale with my dreams upon their backs
my stories in the veins of leaves, my secrets in the sap
Chorus
When the sun went so did I go
as the years fled so did I grow
when the snow came so did I return
olden as the lichen of the oak
and this story goes on after I've gone
this story goes on after I've gone
