West Australian Tour

I type from '1896,' not the year, obviously, but the name of a cafe in Bridgetown, Western Australia- my home town. Bridgetown is set in the beautiful Blackwood Valley through which a low, summer river meanders lazily. I'm here with my fiance (!!!) Dom, who proposed to me just last night under the shade of a jarrah tree by the river. We're enjoying a bit of quiet time before starting the tour.
The Red Clay Halo arrive in just over a week and will be visiting Australia for the first time. Can't wait to have them in my home country.
If you're in WA, please come along to one of our shows. Here they are...

7th Feb- Perth International Arts Festival solo show supporting Sharon Shannon @ Beck's Music Box.
14th Feb- The Railway Hotel, North Fremantle with The Red Clay Halo.
20th Feb- Bridgetown Repertory Theatre. Matinee at 1:30pm and Evening show at 8pm.
21st Feb- Mount Lawley Bowls Club, Perth.
25th Feb- Perth International Arts Festival supporting Dan Sultan @ Beck's Music Box.
27th (pm) and 28th Feb (am)- Nannup Folk Festival.
28th Feb (pm)- Redcliffe on Murray, Pinjarra.
5th March- X-Wray Cafe, Fremantle (solo.)
7th March- Duchstein Brewery, Margaret River (solo.)

Bye for now,
Emily

Front page of Myspace UK.

Hello there and hope you're having a good weekend. The rain drips down over Leicester town and I'm full of roast chicken, plums and cream, and tea- lots of cups of tea...and excitement.
Thanks to a friend informing me via facebook, I discovered that I'm on the front page of myspace UK!

Also, I'm heading to Australia tomorrow to start our first Australian tour with The Red Clay Halo.

'Nostalgia' is being released as a digital single on Feb 8th.
Here's the press release:

And the final reason for excitement is that the girls of The Red Clay Halo and I, have just finished a productive two-day rehearsal up in the Leicester cottage. The album's sound and identity is gradually revealing itself to us and we're pleased with what we're creating.

And that's about all I can think to tell you about right now.

Best wishes,

Emily

'Almanac'

Since finishing our UK tour in October, I've been hibernating up in Leicester passing the dark, wintry days in a little cottage with my boyfriend, a pen, some paper and my guitar. I've been writing the next album and am pleased to say that last week I wrote the final song needed for it's completion.
It's inspired by a poem I found called 'Almanac' by Primo Levi which philosophises about the future of the earth and humanity.
Here are the lyrics to my song 'Calendar'...

Nostalgia- Wallander

So exciting things are afoot in The Red Clay Halo camp with the second series of Wallander having been broadcast the last two Sundays on BBC1 at 9pm (there is one episode left this Sunday.)
We've enjoyed the number 1 position numerous times in the Amazon Folk mp3 charts.
And we've been in the top ten of the iTunes Singer/songwriter charts!
Starting next week, our album 'Despite the Snow' will be featured on the main page of iTunes Pan-Europe for a whole week!
And finally, on the 19th January the album will be featured on the Singer/songwriters page of iTunes UK.
Here is the track that's bringing us some glory...
