Little Deaths out on October 11th!

'Little Deaths' is the first track to emerge from our new studio album 'Almanac' (out January 2011.) It is a song about fallen dreams and thwarted plans as well as a wish to lead a life filled with inspiration and creativity.

A video directed by Poppy Jackson and filmed & edited by Patti Gaal-Holmes will accompany the release.

"The band is currently recording at Cafe Studios in Bow, East London and for it, recently completed a session on the massive pipe organ in the Royal Festival Hall. Produced by Emily Barker and Ted Barnes, with contributions from drummer Nat Butler and bassist Ali Friend, fans can expect a raft of sublime acoustic vocal music, drawing you in to a world that celebrates the sheer pleasure of song writing and ensemble playing. Emily Barker (acoustic & electric guitar, lead vocals), Jo Silverston (cello, saw), Anna Jenkins (violin) and Gill Sandell (accordion, flute, piano, pipe organ) draw on English-folk roots and 70's singer/songwriter influences (Neil Young and Carol King) to create vintage alternative pop."

Late at The Tate Britain with Arctic Circle

Last friday night the 6th August I had an exceptionally fun night performing with my dear penguin friends of 'Arctic Circle' at The Tate Britain.
Together we curated an event we called 'The Lovers, The Dreamers and Me' which comprised of rainbows, rivers, mountains, lovers, robots, animation, film and music.

At 6pm I sang at the top of my voice from the balcony of the Duveen hall. I sang in search of my "lost lover" who in turn responded from somewhere in the crowd and our voices echoed in harmony through the halls...



Then I had the honour of playing guitars and banjo, sometimes singing, to the beautiful films made by Patti Gaal-Holmes in Room 9 amongst William Hogarth's paintings.
A man in the crowd called Tim Wood drew this little picture...


All the lost travellers, in the end, found each other and we soireed the night away with lullabies and ballads such as Rainbow Connection, Hushabye Mountain, Moon River and Dream a Little Dream.
